Solid half-basket hilted sword
Owned by Sir Donald Anderson, Elder Brother of Trinity House. The hilt consists of a solid half-basket, with raised bars and a badge with a cross, the four quarters each carrying a ship (badge of Trinity House). There is a lion's-head pommel, the mane forming the back-piece, and a prominent tang button. The white fish-skin grip is bound with three gilt wires and there is a folding flap to the hilt. The hilt has been pierced for a swordknot and swordknot is present (post-1891). There is a straight, tapering blade of Wilkinson type with bright and dull work decoration.
