Stern model; Sectional model; Rudder model
Scale: Unknown. A model of the Lumley rudder as fitted to a warship made entirely in wood with metal fittings and painted in realistic colours. The hull below the waterline is painted to resemble copper sheathing with a narrow cream stripe above and black above the waterline. The section face is painted brown, the deck section is green-grey and the inboard bulwarks are painted dark grey. The model shows a rudder in two sections linked by joints and chain. The chain that operates the rudder runs through channels and hawseholes and extends upwards into the stern via the stern post. The propeller well is shown but there is no propeller. The model is displayed on four stylised chocks with two wooden stabiliser supports, all mounted on a rectangular mahogany baseboard.
