The model is largely made of wood, with the dock structure finished in a light sandy colour, and a single sheet of glass to indicate water level. The top part of the cassion has been decked with wooden planks, together with a pair of inspection hatches, the details of which are inked on paper and glued to the wooden structure. At either end of the cassion it has been sectioned diagonally to show the internal construction, comprising of five layers. The whole model is mounted on wooden baseboard with varnished, polished and moulded mahogany edging.
