This 'study of the folds of a lady's skirt' was done by Louisa Herschel when she was 13 or 14 years old. The 'lady's skirt' in question could have been her mother's, one of her sisters, her own or it could have been a plaster model of a statue or a painting owned by their drawing tutor.
