'Temeraire'; warship; 98 guns
Scale: Unknown. A model of the British warship 'Temeraire' made in plaster with wood, metal, paper, and cotton fittings, which has been realistically painted. The model depicts the vessel at 13.40 on 21 October 1805 at the height of the Battle of Trafalgar and shows damage to the ship. The ship is three masted, ship rigged with set sails. The foremast is completely broken and the main and mizzen masts are both broken. The sails are all damaged by shot holes. There is dark grey cotton wool attached to the bow indicating smoke. The hull is painted black with white stripes along the three gun decks, white on the deck, and black on the deck fittings. There is a large white ensign flying from the peak of the gaff and a Union flag on the deck. On a paper label attached to the hull: '39'.
