Tunic - collar detail, Royal Marines Light Infantry uniform: pattern 1856-1863

Single breasted tunic of red felted wool, fastening with 8 domed buttons with Royal Marine's insignia. The coat has a small standing collar faced with blue wool, edged with gold lace and featuring the crown and star insignia on both sides. The front is edged with white piping. On the left shoulder is a cord shoulder strap. The sleeves terminate in a non-working mariners cuff which features a blue slash, edged in white piping. There are three buttons on the mariners cuff and the faux buttonholes are outlined with gold lace. The coat has extremely short skirts and the non-working sword pleats features the slash of the mariners cuff with three domed buttons, the buttonholes edged with gold lace.
